We continue our discussion on Meta Tags in our quest to optimize our website so as to get a first page ranking for our chosen keywords and thus able to obtain free traffic from Google or any other top search engine on the web.
Alt Tag
Now I am going to teach you another secret of this meta tag that will contribute to your higher ranking in Google. It is the Alt text for your image in your webpage. Okay, let me tell you what is an Alt text for your image. When you place your mouse cursor on an image of certain websites, you will see a text box pop up by its side with a description telling you what is the image all about. Lets say you go to Amazon.com and you place your mouse cursor on any image on the website, you will see a description of its product name. While Alt text is meant for description of an image, it can be used to optimize your website for the keywords you are using. So lets say your keywords are, golf swing and golf club, then you should put in the Alt tag like this: ” <img src=”img/header.gif” alt=”Golf swing, Golf Club” height=”114″ width=”700″> ” If you have more keywords, just separate them with a comma.
Backlinks
This probably among the most powerful optimization technique and also the hardest to fulfill. So what is a backlink. It is an incoming link from other related website to your own webpage. For instant, if Amazon.com places in the gold section your website link and someone click on the link and goes into your homepage then that is an incoming backlink. Now search engine like Google highly value this kind of backlink and will rank you highly the more backlink you have pointing to your website. So you can always contact the owner of a related golf website and ask for a link exchange with them. Why we need link from a related website, well its because Google doesn’t like you to simply have tons of backlink from any website which is unrelated to what your web content is about. They will in fact lower your ranking if Google notices your irrelevent backlinks.
So use the above 2 SEO marketing techniques wisely and you will see your website shoot up the ranking in Google or Yahoo within a few days.
